"Skipton Notes" from the "Lexton Plains Footballer" July 12th 2003
Round 10, Jun 28th 2003, Skipton versus Ararat Eagles @ Ararat
Back and refreshed after the week off we now look forward to the remainder of the second half of the season starting today against Natte Bealiba. The Swans always give us a run for the money at home so hard games are expected in all grades.
Our games against the Ararat Eagles two weeks ago were successful, with all teams winning. The Incentive award winners in the Senior football were Cameron Postlethwaite, Chris Jennings, Paul Grinstead, Kris Johnson and James Shelton. Other awards went to Cameron Postlethwaite (Peter Lalor Hotel), Paul Ginstead (21 Arms), Troy Wickham (Ballarat Barber Shop) and Adam Slater (Pinky’s Pizza). In the Reserves the winners were Anthony Bibby (Golden Age Hotel), Ryan Adamson (21 Arms), Matthew Shelton (Skipton Hotel) and Brad Moyle (Pinky’s Pizza).
The Juniors just held on and got over the line in a very exciting finish. The awards went to Adam Weightman (Pinky’s Pizza), Scott Bradshaw (McDonalds) and Jess Britton (Ballarat Barber Shop)
In the netball the Seniors had a very good win with Lydia McKerrow (Burrumbeet Hotel) and Clare Odlum (Golden Age Hotel) amongst the better players. The Reserves won in a close game with Angela Hand (Peter Lalor Hotel) and Emma Poulton (Skipton Hotel) receiving the awards
The Under 14 girls played well with Rachael Trickey winning the Pinky’s Pizza award and Kristylee Toose the McDonalds voucher. The Under 17 girls had a walkover.
Today two more of our netballers reach personal goals with Karis Britton playing her 50th Junior game and Natalie Drake her 150th Club game. Congratulations to both girls.
Another reminder of some important dates to keep free. Our Special Effort draw is on Sunday, the 27th July and the Masquerade Ball is on Saturday, 9th August. Next week after the Rokewood game their will be a Mexican Tea and Cocktail night. It should be a great night so come along and enjoy the fun.
Make sure we join the Natte Bealiba members after the game today for a drink. See you there!
