"Skipton Notes" from the "Lexton Plains Footballer" July 19th 2003
Round 12, July 12th 2003, Skipton versus Natte-Bealiba @ Natte Yallock
Today we welcome Rokewood Corindhap to our Club with the Real Estate Home Loans Challenge Shield at stake. A reminder that the result of all the games played contributes to who shall win the Shield at the end of the day.
Last week at Natte Yallock, after a pleasing first half our Seniors were put under pressure by an enthusiastic opposition but still managed a good win. Incentive award winners were Chris Jennings, Cameron Postlethwaite, Kris Johnson, Troy Ferrier and Tony Boyer. Other awards went Tony Boyer (Peter Lalor Hotel0, Kris Johnson (21 Arms), Andrew Clark (Ballarat Barber Shop) and Darren Fletcher (Pinky’s Pizza)
The return of both James Collins and Luke Hills from shoulder injuries assisted the Reserves to have another good win. From an even team the award winners were Joseph Kavanagh (Golden Age Hotel), Luke Hills (21 Arms)), Ryan Adamson (Skipton Hotel) and James Collins (Pinky’s Pizza)
The Juniors Coach, Dean Sheridan, was very happy with their win and the commitment shown by all the players. The awards went to Jess Britton (Pinky’s Pizza), Jade Sharrock (McDonalds) and Rhys Haley (Ballarat Barber Shop)
The netballers had a mixed day with the Reserves and Under 14 winning whilst the Seniors and Under 17 suffered losses. The Seniors went down by two goals in a very close game with the awards going to Clare Odlum (Burrumbeet Hotel), Lydia McKerrow (Golden Age Hotel) and Fiona Fletcher (21 Arms). The award winners from a very even Reserves team were Joanna McKerrow (Peter Lalor Hotel), Dione Edmonston (Skipton Hotel), and Angela Hand (21 Arms)
In the Juniors the award winners in the Under 17 were Rawinia Vanderlaan (Pinky’s Pizza) and Maree Heenan (McDonalds). To their credit this group of girls keep giving their best each week and that is all we can ask of them. Another win is not far away. The Under 14 had a good win with all the girls playing well. The awards were won by Karis Britton (Pinkys Pizza) and Isobelle Nunn (McDonalds)
This week we have another player reaching a personal milestone when Jess Thornton reaches his 100th Junior game which is a great effort by him. Well done Jess.
